Annual Curriculum

First-year Students

First-year students are expected to acquire the capability of understanding humans as the object of nursing from a variety of angles based on deep humanity, and receive linguistic training to understand things from a global viewpoint. Furthermore, they are expected to acquire the capability of information processing in the fields of health and medical treatment and the capability of thinking scientifically. In addition to English as a compulsory subject, language studies offered include German, French, Chinese, and Korean, thus expanding the range of international fields where students can play active roles. Moreover, in order to acquire a wide range of culture, students can choose a variety of lesson subjects freely, including self-study hours, in addition to fundamental nursing and clinical nursing training.

Second-year Students

Second-year students must study a larger number of Medical and Health Science and specialized education subjects. From the specialized education subjects, students will acquire the capability of thinking and judgment based on scientific grounds, and learn the nursing processes in a problem-solving method. Moreover, students will learn the required professional expertise and technology in order to consider nursing according to each patient’s situation. The School will raise students’ application capability and judgment capability so that they can respond to medical environmental changes flexibly. In specialized education, students will learn fundamental nursing, adult health nursing, community health nursing and family health nursing.

Third-year Students

The School offers lessons of adult health nursing, comprehensive community health nursing, and family health nursing in the first semester, thus raising students’ capability in understanding people’s health from the viewpoints of the dynamic interaction of health with the social and cultural environment and the correlation of mind and body. The School gives a clinical nursing practicum in the fields of adult health nursing, community health nursing, and family health nursing. In this clinical nursing training, they will make use of their acquired knowledge, think by themselves, and act. Students will realize the role of nursing from this experience.

Fourth-year Students

The School provides lessons of adult health nursing, comprehensive community health nursing, and family health nursing. Through the clinical nursing training of these subjects, the School raises students’ capability in recognizing peoples’ various senses of values and acting ethically with a sympathetic attitude. Moreover, the School raises students’ capability in recognizing the role and responsibility of nursing professionals, paying attention to health, medical treatment, and welfare problems, and exercising leadership in cooperation with other occupational specialists. The School offers an optional nurse-midwifery course with clinical nurse-midwifery training. As the synthesis of their nursing education, students select themes by themselves, and acquire self-study capability and a research attitude under the supervision of the faculty. The School raises students’ capability to conduct research by themselves as nursing professionals and to develop nursing science in the future.

In pursuit of evidence which supports the quality of nursing and the training of professional expertise.

E-learning Study Support

The School has a well-organized teaching organization at Japan’s top level and an advanced e-learning system. The School helps students to learn nursing science using a new-style learning system supported by the faculty.

In Pursuit of Evidence of Nursing Practice

The School is reviewing knowledge of long-established clinical nursing from a scientific viewpoint in pursuit of evidence as the grounds of practice. The School encourages students to contribute to further improvement in the construction of long-established nursing science.

Training in Professional Expertise

Masters’ level programs include training courses of special nurses as expert clinical practitioners in specific fields such as the field of cancer nursing. A large number of graduates are playing an active part throughout Japan.
